Besides our permanent exhibition, we organize a number of temporary exhibitions and events for the public. In our museum you can experience the annual Museum Night, or enjoy the fun side of science as part of the Night of Scientists. In summer you can celebrate Mendel’s birthday with us (the festival ‘Mendel is…’).
We are also the creators of a number of successful exhibitions, including travelling exhibitions.
The Mendel Museum builds on the legacy of G. J. Mendel. It is a venue where experts meet and a place where the results of science and research are presented to the general public. A number of lectures are organized within the museum, mainly in the field of genetics, but also in other fields taught at Masaryk University.
A number of Nobel Prize winners have spoken at the internationally renowned Mendel Lectures, in which we participate. The so-called Seminar Series – comprising lectures in the natural and physical sciences, as well as the humanities – are also fruitful.
We also hold annual lectures for the general public as part of the Rare Diseases Day, and we publish a number of specialist books.
You can discover the fun side of Mendel in our programmes for schools, which playfully acquaint pupils with Mendel and his special areas of expertise, i.e. genetics, meteorology and beekeeping.
